Ys - Madame La Frontière 1976

Band formed in the mid-seventies by support musicians of the French famous folk artist Alan Stivell. While not touring or recording, they used to rest all together in the Breton countryside in Morbihan where Stivell owned a house. At this time, the idea of setting up their own band dawned upon them. They started to write material and soon signed a contract with the French division of Philips. As a result Alan Stivell put an immediate end to their engagement. Named after a legendary Breton sunken city, the band recorded their sole album at the famous studios of the Château d'Hérouville, in Paris region. There they met singer Jacques Higelin which made a guest appearance on the disc. After one year touring, divisions between the Dutch leader Renée Werneer and the rest of the group led to disbandment. Some of the musicians decided to continue working together under the name of Keris.
