The Damnation Of Adam Blessing - The Damnation Of Adam Blessing 1969

Cleveland, Ohio's Damnation of Adam Blessing scored only a few regional hits and barely dented the national charts, but artistically, they were far more original and innovative than any band from their hometown and could even make that case with plenty from outside Ohio. Damnation's focus was obviously on contemporary hard rock, but the arrangements were far more advanced. While most heavy rock acts featured screaming or shouting vocals, Damnation tested the waters with low-range, gospel-like harmonies and Adam Blessing's grinding yet melodic leads. The beginnings of Damnation of Adam Blessing are rooted in two Cleveland garage bands, The Society and The Alarm Clocks. Years later, members from these bands split and then joined, and the Damnation were born. Recorded at Cleveland Recording Studios in May and June of 1969 and released that September, Damantion of Adam Blessing's eponymous debut reached number 2 on the local charts (behind only Abbey Road and even behind Bridge Over Troubled Water) and number 181 in Billboard bye early 1970.
