THEODORE ZIRAS was born in Poros, Greece. He started taking music theory, piano and guitar lessons at age 15, when he become fascinated with musicians of high virtuosity and technique. When he reached 18 years of age, he moved Athens to further continue his training and studies in guitar, as well as in music theory, jazz harmony, rhythm & counterpoint. Between 1994 and 1998 he played in his first serious band, the power metal Greek outfit ICE DIVINE. Also, he was lead guitar in legendary progsters GUARDIAN ANGEL from 1997 till1998. In that time he had the opportunity to perform along metal monsters like ICED EARTH.Near the end of 1998 ZIRAS left Greece, in order to continue his music studies at the prestigious Guitar Institute of London. 2001 saw him graduating with Honors with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance & Composition. After his British experience, the axe-master returned to his mother land where he signed his first solo record deal. He released his first solo instrumental full-length, "Trained To Play", in April of 2001. With "a mix of Orchestral Neoclassical Metal with complex harmony/orchestration and mind-blowing lead guitar parts", the album was received very positively by the press and specialized media, establishing ZIRAS as a force to contend with in the future. ZIRAS' second album, "Virtual Virtuosity", was released in March 2003. The opus further established the axe-master as one of the top class guitar virtuosos around the globe. In 2005 the artist released his first CD with vocals: "Euroforce CD", featuring Jiotis Parcharidis, of the German Power Metal group HUMAN FORTRESS.2007 has finally seen the arrival of the Greek master's third solo work: "HyperpirexiA". For this album, ZIRAS' virtuosism was surrounded by the skills and artistry of legendary keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, PLANET X) and top L.A drummer Brian Tichy. These days, besides his solo work, ZIRAS "keeps extremely busy dividing his time between studying, composing, teaching guitar, writing instructional material, recording and trying to develop his style and grow as a performer and composer".This artist's main influences include Classical Music, Rock, Metal to Jazz & Fusion. His style has a lot of resemblance to that of legends like Malsteem, Petrucci, Satriani, as well as classical monsters like Bach or Paganini. All of this within a powerful, rockin' metal experience.
