Brazilian act MOTO PERPETUO was formed in 1973, instigated by Guilherme Arantes (piano, vocals) and Claudio Lucci (guitars, cello, violin, vocals) got to know each other at the faculty of architecture and urbanism. Egydio Conde (guitars, vocals), Diogenes Burani (percussion, vocals) and Gerson Tatini (bass, vocals) were added to the line-up, and in early 1974 they hit the recording studio. Their self-titled debut album was released shortly after. By 1975 Arantes decided that he would rather venture forth as a solo artist, and he made himself a rather successful career on his own. Moto Perpetuo disbanded, although a brief epilogue to their career came in 1981 when three former members issued an album under the moniker São Quixote, with Arantes appearing as a guest musician.
